Our Mission

The mission of the children’s choirs of Grace Community Church is to provide the youth of our church with the opportunity to serve the Lord and His saints—to use their voices for the glory of God and the encouragement of the church body. We believe this involves coming alongside families by training students to sing beautifully crafted songs and instructing them in proper vocal technique. We pray that the lyrics of the songs and hymns they learn will foster solid theological knowledge and musical understanding as they grow and learn to serve within the church body, all for the praise of our Master and Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ.

About Us

Our Children’s Choirs include Primary Choir (age 6–grade 2) and Junior Choir (grades 3–5). No auditions are required.
  • Primary Choir gathers on scheduled Sundays at 5 pm.
  • Junior Choir meets at 4:45 pm.

Rehearsals include preparation for singing in services or concerts at Grace Church as we learn hymns and anthems of the faith, lifting our voices in praise to the Lord. Children are instructed in good vocal technique and the basic elements of music notation.

Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering to help with our children’s choir ministries, please contact Kellie Cunningham at kcunningham@gracechurch.org for more information about completing a ministry application and background check form. All volunteers must submit a leadership application to the music department and be cleared through Children’s Ministry.

FAQ

Does my child have to attend Sunday school or Adventure Club to participate in choir?
Participation in one or both is preferred.

What commitments do choir members make?
The Children’s Choirs have periodic opportunities to serve on Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings, in the main services and fellowship groups. Specific dates will be emailed upon joining the choir and may be added throughout the year. Please give the director as much advance notice as possible if you have a scheduling conflict.

Am I allowed to miss rehearsal?
A child must participate in a minimum of three rehearsals immediately prior to any singing opportunity. Any absences must be discussed with the Children’s Choir director or conductor, preferably with at least 24 hours’ notice.
